University for Young People
Since 1983, the University for Young People at Baylor University has served thousands of gifted students in the Waco community. As the reach of its exceptional summer and weekend programming has expanded with the creation of Baylor TIP in 2022, the UYP brand has been modified. UYP’s primary program for students in grades 1-3 is remaining essentially unchanged. Students in those grades will continue to be admitted without testing and without having to meet pre-determined admission requirements. Families who wish to have their students enrolled in a UYP class (grades 1-3) can simply register them to take it. Moving forward, the UYP brand will only be used for these younger students. Families with students in grades 4 and up can refer to the Baylor TIP website to learn more about the offerings for their students.
UYP Courses: Summer 2024
Students entering Grades 1–3 can attend UYP and need not be formally identified as gifted to attend. They do not need to apply to participate in the program.
This summer, UYP is offering two in-person, week-long courses in Creative Problem Solving. Each course occurs in-person on Baylor's campus.
Time: 8:30-3:00
Cost: $350 per course. Lunch in the cafeteria is included in the cost. A 25% nonrefundable deposit is due upon enrollment, and payment plans are available. Students who enroll in both courses and families who enroll more than one child are eligible for a 10% discount. Please note that the enrollments must occur at the same time for the registration system to apply the discount to the order.
