4-7 Clubs and Societies
Fourth through seventh graders looking to connect over shared interests may join one of our emerging clubs and societies. These groups will meet multiple times over the course of a semester with a TIP mentor as guide to share common interests and explore skills within those interests more in depth. Meeting times and pursuits will be determined together as a group, and may be in person, although most will likely be online to facilitate access for all.

Do you love magical stories with unforgettable characters and rich, imaginative worlds? Join us for “Baker Street Readers” a book club just for students in grades 5–7!
This season, readers will choose between two incredible books:
- Sweep: The Story of a Girl and Her Monster by Jonathan Auxier
-Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell
Whether you’re drawn to the gritty streets of Victorian London, or a world filled with mythical beasts, you’ll find a story that sparks your imagination.
Together, we’ll explore how each author uses literary elements—like setting, character, theme, and tone—to bring their stories to life. You’ll engage in fun, student-led discussions, compare key story elements across both books, and discover how authors craft their stories in different ways.
Critical Questions
- Analyze how author’s craft and literary elements affect a story
- Compare writing style and themes
- Explore personal connections and reflections
- Discuss thinking like a writer as a reader
The Baker Street Readers at Baylor TIP exists to foster a love of reading by engaging students in rich, imaginative stories that spark curiosity and critical thinking. Students will explore how authors use literary elements—such as character development, setting, theme, and tone—to craft compelling narratives. Most importantly, the club will celebrate the joy of reading and the power of choice in building lifelong readers.
